Soccer Scholarship
European soccer players have never been so popular for the college coaches. They appreciate Europe’s training ideas and the work ethics of the ambitious players. Players, who are in the top leagues and have played in the highest youth league, have the best chance of a full scholarship in soccer.
For those who do not meet the criteria, it does not mean that the chance of getting a scholarship is bad. For example Nico Noll, one of our clients came from a district league and modestly described himself as “the smallest number” on the team. Nevertheless, he received a scholarship at Carson Newman College, was a starter and helped his team advance to the finals of the National Championships in Division II.
Simon Gubisch, who played with the soccer team at Lynn University and became National Champion in Division II with the team, next to the sport also emphasized on his academics: “After I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Germany I wanted to get a Master’s degree abroad. When I heard about the possibility of getting a sports scholarship, I didn’t want to miss out on that chance. I was offered a chance to follow my passion, in my case soccer, combined with the next step of my studies, while also getting financial support. A few months later the dream came true and now I had entered a whole new world. It was like a movie. Scholarbook helped me make my dream come true within a very short time- Thank you!”

When should I apply?
The best time to get a soccer scholarship in the US is directly after you graduate from high school. The coaches like to recruit younger athletes so they can build a better athlete over the years.
However, it is also possible to take this step when you are older. We have helped a lot of soccer players receive a sports scholarship to do their Master’s degree .Another option is going abroad for only one or two semesters.
In all cases you should contact us about one year before you want to go study in America. The soccer season always begins during the Fall semester, so it would be very good for you to contact us early, ideally before August.
How is the training structured in America?
Even when an athlete goes to a college in the US primarily for academic reasons, the athlete will still be found in a very professional atmosphere for soccer. The college team will have a great mix of international players, staying overnight in hotels, traveling by team buses or airplanes, something only professional teams in Europe can do. To achieve great things with the team, there will be several training sessions per day when preparing for the season. To make sure that your body can handle this high level training, multiple physical therapists will be available to help at all times. There will also be different training fields and up to five highly qualified coaches to ensure that you are in good shape when the season finally begins.
How does the season look like?
The different leagues will begin between early September and late October. Most often, there will be two or three games a week. Depending on how far you make it in the playoffs NCAA or NAIA, season runs to early December the latest. On the other side, during spring season there is a so-called “off-season” where there are only friendly games and tournaments against other high-quality teams. In the future though, this could change and university soccer will finally be both a fall and spring sport.
What do American Universities offer their soccer teams?
We would like to show you the new Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn stadium of the University of Louisville in the video below as an example.
What does your current club have? A locker room and a playing field? Look for yourself how much more the University of Louisville offers their soccer team:
- A meeting room
- A lounge where the team can relax and refuel energy after a game or practice
- A large locker room with plenty of room for all the equipment
- A special room, “boot room” for soccer shoes
- Last but not least an enormous stadium with the capacity for several thousand spectators
