Tennis Scholarship
It is especially challenging to estimate the exact criteria for a tennis scholarship. Since the college coaches evaluate each player’s skills individually for their decision, when awarding a scholarship. Therefore, it is especially important that you fill out our Opportunity Assessment so we can determine your chances as soon as possible. Once we have received your Opportunity Assessment, our tennis expert Jaime Vázquez will have a look at your information and give you an individual assessment.
Experience has shown that we can also give you a good estimate from seeing your results from your league.

When should I apply?
The best time to get a tennis scholarship in the US is directly after you graduate from high school. The coaches like to recruit younger students so they can build a better athlete over the course of your Bachelor’s studies.
Of course you can also go for only a few semesters to the US or even do your Master’s degree while receiving a scholarship. This is made possible through our excellent relationships with the coaches.
One example is Yannick Möhring who could simultaneously do his Master’s degree and play on a high level:
“I’ve played tennis since I was 5 years old. I have always practiced a lot, but I had never even thought of playing tennis on a higher level. In my opinion I’m only slightly above an average player. Two years ago I got seriously injured and then I thought it would not be possible anymore to improve further in the long term. Since I did not do my Bachelor’s degree abroad, I wanted to make up for this with a Master’s degree abroad. An acquaintance had told me about Scholarbook. I didn’t really believe I had a chance, but I still filled out the Opportunity Assessment. Then when I got an email from Scholarbook saying that I have a realistic chance I was thrilled and my training enthusiasm came back. As it all worked out, I was overjoyed and totally over the moon. I would never have thought it possible that my hobby could finance a large part of my studies. I am therefore grateful to Scholarbook for their efforts and that they made my dream come true!”
Yannick Möhring, University of Findlay, Ohio
In all cases you should contact us no later than 12 to 15 months before you plan to go to an American college.
How is the training structured in America?
The spring training is intensive because that’s the main season. There are often up to six practices per week on the court and seven strength and conditioning workouts. The only recovery day of the week is usually on Sunday. The rest days can also shift depending on games.
The following video shows the daily life of the North Carolina State University Team.
During the fall semester, the season is not as intense. The athletes get to focus more on academics, the amount of practices is reduced and there are only some tournaments for preparation. During the fall, the players usually get the weekends off.
What does the season look like?
The season for both the women and men’s college teams begins in January and ends with the NCAA National Championship in May. So theoretically you could also play tournaments in your home country during the summer.
Depending on how far your college team advances in the tournaments you could have between 20 and 30 games in the spring. In the fall there could also be three to six preparation tournaments.
Only America has such a great opportunity to combine studies with sports, which is especially important with a time-intensive sport as tennis. This attracts a lot of talented players to the land of opportunities, which also reflects on the performance: College tennis is at a very high level.
Without Scholarbook I would probably had a hard time getting a scholarship for a Master’s degree in the United States. It was a successful, organized and very pleasant cooperation!
